What is the PPAI ADvocate Program?

It’s a new program conceived by the PPAI End Buyer Task Force and designed to train promotional products distributors on how to make presentations to end buyers about the power of promotional products and show why promotional products distributors are the most effective resource for their communications and marketing solutions.

Who can participate?

Any distributor who is a member of PPAI and member of a regional association may indicate his or her interest to become an ADvocate. Next, you must attend one of the training sessions offered by PPAI. A half-day session will be offered at The PPAI Expo 2006 on Monday, January 9 from 8 am - Noon. Finally, you must sign a letter of agreement relating to ethical standards and professionalism.

How Much Time Is Required?

There is no requirement—it’s up to you based on your schedule and preference. You can speak as often as there is a need or limit yourself to just few times a year, but what better way to reach buyers in your community than to speak with them in person about the value of promotional products?

When will the ADvocate Program officially be launched?

PPAI is getting the word out now to member distributors. Once the first group of ADvocates has been trained, PPAI plans to begin promoting the availability of speakers to groups such as Lion’s Clubs and Rotary Clubs as well as key industries—including associations representing the top users of promotional products--healthcare, finance, education, not-for-profit, etc.

What Role Do Regional Associations Play in This Project?

Regional associations will be responsible for two key areas: promoting the program to their members to recruit ADvocates and promoting the availability of speakers to groups in their communities. The Regional Association Council discussed the concept of the program in January and enthusiastically supported it.

What Support Will PPAI Provide?

Live training will be provided to all ADvocates as noted above along with training materials, plenty of  leave-behind brochures and evaluation forms, and a PowerPoint presentation that can be customized to various audiences. PPAI will also provide an online search tool where groups needing speakers can search for and contact an ADvocate in their area. And, you’ll get recognition too through PPAI’s publications, news releases and website.
